UMA HOUSE
miami beach, fl | built in 1951 | 5 stories
Located in Miami, Florida, this boutique hotel-commercial project is exemplified by the existing and operating Sunrise tower, Built in 1951. This building is both new and classical. There is a historic two-story section reserved under the direction of the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Commission, and a new five story tower that transitions beautifully. The interior design concept is Miami’s glam, nostalgic style inspired by the entertainment world of the 70’s and 80’s. The color Palette is composed of scarlet red with hints of black and white, golden metallic surfaces, and natural stones with strong patterns. The highlight of this project design is the theme. The design team wanted to convey a sense of nostalgia and represent the world of entertainment in the Magic City. The concept of this project was brought to life by a team of investors, developers, architects, lighting designers, and landscape architects, with whom Mendez – Vela worked closely to make the right changes and execute the design concept. As the client was a hotel investment group, Deliverability and performance were a key requirement that Mendez-Vela accomplished. The Design team’s goal was to combine elegance, functionality, and aesthetic excellence. Mendez-Vela Design Collection is a boutique interior design firm co-owned by Cuban-born Osirys Mendez and Argentinian-born Sabrina Vela with over 30 years of combined award-winning interior designs.
